Marital Status: Married in 1983 to Sonja Welcher with one Son – Justin
Favorite Pastime: Spending time with my wife and playing ball with my son.
Short Term Life Goal: Finally beat my son in any Play Station game.
Long Term Life Goal: At the end of my life I would like it to be said that I became all that God intended me to become.

- Pilgrim’s Progress by John Bunyan
- Knowing God by J. I. Packer

Ministry Activities:
- Ministry positions since 1979 and pastor of North Carolina churches since 1991.
- Preaching instructor at Heritage Bible College .
- Served on the General Board of the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina from 1996 to 1999; plus many other associational, state, and national Southern Baptist roles.
There are two things I believe every Christian should do:
- Share the plan of salvation with someone. You won’t believe the excitement you have after sharing your faith.
- Go on a mission trip. I have had the privilege of going to Russia , Ukraine , Wales , and South Africa (3 times). Each trip has changed me and deepened my walk with Jesus in a significant way.
