There are specific once-a-year activities that our group looks forward to every year. While these sometimes change, here is a sample:
For many years our teens have enjoyed attending a week long summer camp at Fort Caswell. It’s a great time with competitive activities, service projects, group games, and a beautiful beachfront locale. Of course the focus here is on growing spiritually and there are multiple daily sessions with the opportunity to hear from a gifted speaker and worship with a charismatic praise band.
In the fall, many of the local youth groups who are a part of the Pilot Mountain Baptist Association unite for a great getaway at the Ridgecrest Conference Center. This is a great location in the mountains with a wonderful facility. Here too, we hear from the God’s Word and seek spiritual growth through small groups, personal devotional times, and group sessions.
Discipleship-Now is performed by Beck’s for Beck’s at Beck’s. During the early spring, we put together our own weekend retreat at our own church. The students stay at “host-homes” instead of their own. From Friday night to Sunday Morning the students are playing games together, serving the community together, singing together, and learning together. It’s a wonderful chance for our youth group to bond and grow in unity.
