The deadline for transferring parking credit balances from the MBJBSpot app to the new Parkmax@Johor app has been extended to December 31, 2023, according to Johor Baru mayor Datuk Mohd Haffiz Ahmad. This extension aims to provide users with more time to transition to the new digital parking system, which is being adopted by the Johor Baru City Council (MBJB). The mayor emphasizes the importance of ensuring a smooth transition for all users, stating that applications can be submitted online or in person at designated locations. The Parkmax@Johor app, introduced in May, is already being used by six local councils in Johor for public street parking, with a growing user base of 695,677 registered users. The MBJBSpot app, with over 400,000 users, will be discontinued as the council focuses on facilitating the migration process. The mayor reassures that no enforcement action will be taken against those who have not yet transferred their balances, prioritizing a smooth transition. The migration to Parkmax@Johor was initially met with criticism due to concerns about the short transition period and the fate of unused MBJBSpot credit balances. However, the council addressed these issues by clarifying that users can transfer their remaining credits to the new platform. Motorists who have made the switch describe their experiences as positive, although some encountered technical difficulties during the transition. Student Stassie Lee reported issues with the system being down and the app lagging during the migration process, while Nurse L. Prema expressed frustration over the lack of automatic credit transfer for her remaining RM20 in the MBJBSpot account. Clerk Azri Azman, however, had a satisfactory experience, finding the notice period sufficient and suggesting that MBJB could improve communication through various channels to ensure widespread awareness of the transition. The mayor appreciates the public's support for the council's digitalisation efforts, highlighting the benefits of a unified platform for enhanced convenience and improved parking service delivery. The migration to Parkmax@Johor is part of a broader initiative to integrate parking services across all Johor local councils under a single platform.
